Arsenal have joined the race for Saint Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after trusted scout Gilles Grimandi ran the rule over him on Friday night.
Aubameyang, who has been dubbed ‘the African Neymar’, is rated as a huge star in France and has backed that up with 16 goals this season – including one in front of Grimandi as Saint Etienne drew 2-2 with Rennes.
Arsene Wenger had his chief talent spotter in France watch Aubameyang specifically, while Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham were also in attendance to monitor the Gabon hitman.

According to latest rumours, both Arsenal and Newcastle managements are ready to submit Saint-Etienne an about 13 million euros offer for purchasing Gabonese international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (23). The player is tracke by Fiorentina, Paris Saint-Germain, Valencia and Borussia Dortmund as well.

Oscar Damiani, the agent of £13m-rated Saint-Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 23, has confirmed interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
The quick Gabonese striker has been in prolific form in Ligue 1 this season, scoring 17 goals in 30 matches to fire his team to third in the table.
Aubameyang, who came through the ryouth system of Italian giants AC Milan, has been extensively scouted by a number of Premier League clubs.
Newcastle lead the race for his signature in January but had a £10million bid rejected.
Aubameyang has 23 caps for Gabon and has scored eight goals.
He caused a stir in December after he was pictured warming up in Swarovski crystal-encrusted football boots that were worth £2,500.

Also ich denke Auba könnte sich natürlich einen anderen Klub vorstellen, auch wenn er sich hier extrem wohl fühlt.
Und deswegen wird er auch nicht billig - ganz und gar nicht billig, bei einer Summe von 45-50mio könnte man schwach werden, aber alles darunter ist nicht diskutabel.

Die Gunners wollten laut Sky Sports sogar bis zu 45 Millionen Euro für den Gabuner bieten. Michael Zorc erklärte im Kicker, dass der Stürmer "definitiv nicht zum Verkauf steht."

Das wird Dortmunder Fußball-Fans freuen: Trotz des angeblichen Interesses ausländischer Topklubs ist für den Torjäger Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ein Wechsel momentan unvorstellbar. "Gehen Sie mal davon aus, dass ich mich beim BVB, in der Stadt Dortmund und in dieser Mannschaft dermaßen wohlfühle, dass ich gerade keinen Gedanken daran verschwende, das alles aufzugeben", sagte Aubameyang im Interview mit der "Welt am Sonntag".
